Error rate is the frequency of errors that occur within an API or an application. It provides insights about the reliability and quality of the application. The lower error rate means, a more dependable and accurate service/ performance of an application.
It is measured in terms of the percentage of the total number of errors in a total number of operations or events.
For example, an application that takes 100ms and returns 500 records with 5 errors results in an error rate of 1%.
The rate of errors may increase when the application has high throughput, unhandled scenario, unexpected inputs or other reasons.
Here are some of the different types of errors that can happen.
